Owner, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
I was born in the small town of Westerly, RI, lived in Connecticut, and later moved to Boston prior to moving to California in 2008.
Since the age of 7yrs old I've played multiple sports from football, baseball, basketball, track & field, and bodybuilding at a variety of levels ranging from college divisions I & III to Semi Professional. I've always appreciated the TEAM environment, SUPPORT and FAMILY like atmosphere that sports had provided me which is how we try and operate at Golden State Fitness & Performance. After attending Central Connecticut State University, I later attended and graduated from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI where I received my bachelor of science degree in Biology/Chemistry with a concentration in Physical Therapy. I am currently certified and specialize in the following: NSCA-CSCS Strength & Conditioning Specialist; NSCA-CPT Certified Personal Trainer; NASM Personal Trainer; FMS Level 1 & 2; USAKL Kettlebell Certified; Precision Nutrition Certified (Nutrition Coaching); USAW Olympic Weight Lifting Certified Sport Coach; Pre and Post Natal Programs; Specializing in Sport Programming & Conditioning, Nutrition, Weight loss, Olympic Lifts, improving the quality of life of my clients, Baby Boomers, Functional rehab, Injury Prevention, Kettlebell Training.
Knowing that
I enjoyed helping people to achieve a better quality of life through fitness and being aware of certain restriction that being a physical therapist would have, I decided to jump into the fitness industry and never looked back.
Having been involved in multiple aspects of the fitness industry since 2000 (almost 20yrs of experience) from university strength and conditioning
To corporate fitness/personal training and management (TSI/BSC,WSC,NYC,PSC), to specialized populations (Alzheimer's, stroke & brain trauma victims, advanced cardiac rehab, Joint replacements, Pre/Post Natal Pregnancy, and more), to training middle school to Semi Professional and Professional Athletes, I became increasingly frustrated with the poor standards our industry had to offer. Quite simply I became sick and tired of clubs where sales numbers were more important than member results and experience, customer and employee appreciation, as well as the personal training standards had become ridiculously poor and good training programs and qualified instructors were non existent.
In 2008
I took a leap of faith and decided to move to California leaving all of my family and friends on the east coast to marry my best friend and the best thing that could have ever happened to me, my amazing wife Ashley. With her love and support, all of my dreams have come true. We got married in 2010, opened Golden State Fitness & Performance in 2012,and now live in Livermore, CA with three amazing blessings, Madison Gail (9yrs), Brayden Henry (7yrs), and Tyson Kenneth (TK 5yrs).
I firmly believe that we have the best personal training facility in the Bay Area.
(2015 Best of Oakland Fitness Program Award). Our TEAM and FAMILY at GSFP are attentive and knowledgeable (certified through NSCA-CSCS/NASM), we strive to offer the highest quality of service /support with the most cutting edge training methods, and customized fitness and nutrition programs that are guaranteed to get you the results you have always wanted. By offering flexible programming, being understanding of your needs, teaching and guiding you toward your goals, and getting you actual results, we help you eliminate all of those excuses that get in the way of achieving your goals, whether it be time, family, travel, lack of know how, support, or motivation.
We train movement and know that everyone is different for different reasons.
That is why we customize all of our programs and help you to move better, so you can perform the exercises more efficiently in order to apply the appropriate intensities and resistances throughout your workouts, which in turn will get you to look and feel better. Our goal is to get you to your goals and help you "Make Yourself Stronger Than Your Excuses".
It may not be the largest facility, but that just reinforces our friendly, supportive, and family like culture.
You will never be lost with us. I know that you won't find a more qualified, caring team anywhere. Our team and family here at Golden State Fitness & Performance are excited to soon meet you, and hope to have the opportunity to assist and guide you with your health, fitness, and performance needs.
We're proud of what we do here and feel that if given a chance you'll want to train and do business with us.
We've been helping clients in this community for a number of years and are proud to be a family owned and operated business. (NO Corporate BS). We are however, one of the more expensive gyms in the area. This is by choice. Poor service, poor staff and poor member results are all part of being a cheaply priced facility. With our way of doing business, providing the highest quality of service, fitness & nutrition programming, support, and care, you are guaranteed to finally get the results you are looking for.
Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist.
I graduated from the university of Colorado in 2006, and have been working in the fitness industry since 2009.
I hold my NSCA-CSCS(certified strength and conditioning specialist) certification as well as my USAW. I specialize in fixing people that have restricting issues, such as shoulder impingment, low back pain, ankle issues, etc. I've trained every population, from 8 year olds to 90 year olds; I have a good understanding of how the body moves and needs to be treated. The thing I love about fitness is that the body can be molded to how YOU want it. Whatever fitness goals you have, they can be achieved through hard work, dedication, and the will to want to change. Give me a call to set up a consultation, and always remember, health is wealth.
Certified Personal Trainer.
I've Been Training Since 2009.
I hold certifications to teach and coach weightlifting
Functional movement, strength training, neurological based training (Z-Health) and am qualified to help with diet and nutrition.
I specialize in movement and real world strength building.
With me you will learn best training practices for you, and understand the value of strength and how cultivating your personal strength leads to a longer, healthier, more impactful active life.
I have a full understanding of the nuances that women face through different life stages and can help women navigate times such as pre- and post-natal
Peri-and post menopause and the many things that often accompany these stages.
Personal Trainer.
Before becoming a full time trainer at Golden State Fitness & Performance, sports and athletics has always been one of the most primary focuses in my life.
Like many working in the fitness world, my passion for being active developed at a very early age and still strongly persists today. I played both basketball and football in high school, then went on to play football at Wittenberg University, one of the top NCAA division III programs.
After a few too many football related injuries I moved back to California in 2012 and immediately started coaching basketball, which was always the first sport I fell in love with.
Whether I'm directing summer basketball camps for sixty kids, working as an assistant coach for a high school varsity basketball team, or training the wonderful clients of GSFP, I will always love and thrive helping people to be the best versions of themselves.
Playing competitive sports throughout my life has taught me the true value of putting in the exhausting work that is required of those that wish to achieve their fitness goals.
There is no other way to make oneself stronger and healthier without putting in the countless hours of hard work. I hope to use the knowledge and skills I've developed as a life long athlete, and to continue educating myself in order to best help everyone I work with accomplish their most passionate fitness goals.
